One of the most popular basket willows with long flexible shoots used for basket-making. Prefers moist soil and tolerates exposure.
Uses: Fast-growing hedge or living fence, shoots for basket-making, coppice for wood, biomass production, windbreak, shelterbelt, living structures.
Wildlife value: Early pollen for insects, hosts many insect species and therefore attracts many insect-eating birds such as the willow warbler.
