About
Our goal is to grow food, support biodiversity, build climate resilence and to inspire others to grow their own food.
Our farm is 4 acres, naturally split into two 2 acre areas. The area that runs along the Thonoge river (An Tonnóg) has been left untouched for many years and is developing into a woodland. This area is minimally managed with natural ecological succession leading the way. Any management that occurs here is aimed at enhancing and creating habitats for wildlife.
The other half is our edible ecosystem consisting of our food forest, vegetable garden and nursery. Biodiversity conservation is our top priority here along with self-sufficient, climate-resilient food production and education. We do not use any chemicals and focus upon building healthy soil via the principles of no-dig, mulching and green manures.
The farm is run by Thomas, Laura & Willow. Thomas is a zoologist with a PhD in animal behaviour and conservation. Thomas has years of university teaching experience within Ireland and the UK and possesses a Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) qualification. Laura is a nurse & artist. Willow is nearly 2 years old and is head of bumblebee and bird spotting. We believe that small scale diverse farms are a critical component in the fight against biodiversity loss and climate change.
